The Use Case 3 focuses on simplifying and digitizing the process of activating a mobile SIM card, allowing users to prove their identity online through their mobile devices. This initiative aims to establish a standardized approach across Europe’s mobile service providers, enabling citizens to activate their SIM cards seamlessly from anywhere on the continent. Work in progress

The stocktaking and gap analysis phase has played a crucial role in clarifying the varied needs of each mobile telecommunications provider, encompassing procedural complexities and specific identity attributes they seek. This thorough scrutiny has yielded valuable insights into the nuanced expectations of different mobile service entities. Presently, the UC3 team will work on a second version of the technical and functional specifications before moving on to the implementation phase in mid-2024.
